Richard Wagner(1813-1883), born in Leipzig on May 22, 1813 and died in Venice on February 13, 1883; eminent opera composer, attended the Dresden Kreuzschule. He composed mainly operas(The Flying Dutchmen, Lohengrin, Tannhauser, THe Ring Cycle, Der Meistersinger, Tristan and Isolde, and Parsifal).
